I don't understand how you can have a blog that covers the music scene and going ons of a city where everything is great/good/perfect. Motorcityrocks.com, a blog i read daily is the template of this. It seems to me to be the puke left on the toilet from the metrotimes or realdetroitweekly magazines. There was a time when yours truly was asked to review cd's for this site...this of course did not happen. My good friend Elle at Detroitriot.blogspot.com wrote a piece or 2 for them and was heavily edited or suggested to neglect the negative side of things. I suppose it is a matter of opinion. Some people prefer fluff where others prefer the truth, or rather the good with the bad. I am more drawn to jasper.webvomit.com due to his unabashed and unbiased opinion. Motorcityrocks does has decent coverage, just ok since it was bought and sold, but it is not real. Everything is not good, alot sucks, and it seems like noone over there has the balls to draw a line.

I don't disagree that my MCR contributions tend to be about positive things. That's just how I roll. I enjoy Web Vomit's no holds barred opinions as much as the next guy.
You'll notice that my review of "Flashy" wasn't exactly glowing. I did say things like "quantity over quality", and that the record lacked any hits. I try to write objectively, just to introduce readers to a new band or album. The judgment is up to you.

My big problem with Webvomit is that, yes, they are more objective but if you look at the negative/criticism, 90% is directed at national acts or complaining about not getting free music (under the guise of sarcasm but still whining). They actaully have more of a rigid "set list" of acts they cover and they all fall under the overexposed banner (Muggs, Deastro, Friendly Foes, Prussia, ad nauseum). The thing that I really don't like about webvomit are the people who comment regularly (Whalebomb, JRC, Etc, Etc) They remind me of people who call up talk radio on a regular basis and convince themselves that they too are part of the show maybe having little nicknames and such. I like nothing. No exit.
what's the alternative? perhaps webvomit is the best of the worst.

Did you ever think that maybe if your band sucks we just don't cover it. Why would I waste my personal time (I do not do this for a living) on a band I don't like????

I never said my shit was edited. I said I was told to "stay positive" when it came to writing, because MCR isn't down with trash talking. I respected that.
OK, I think this is a bunch of hooey. I'm sorry, JR and BM. You can say I'm being safe. But you know I have nothing to prove to anyone, even you dudes.
nah it's all good, i guess i should've guaged better what i was quoting, but it's not that bi of a deal anyways, just bs....and its really helping to pass the day at work....laughable.
